How We Met

Amy and Ben met at a Purim Party in Charlotte, North Carolina at the Jewish Community Center. Ben was in town for the weekend visiting a friend and they went to the Purim Party on Saturday night.

At the party, Amy had noticed that Ben was standing alone while everyone else was off doing other things. She felt bad for him standing all alone, so she went over and introduced herself and struck up a conversation. They ended up chatting the night away at the party.

During the party there was a silent auction going on. Amy had her eye on a beautiful pair of candle sticks for most of the night. She had bid on them several times, always making sure she had the highest bid. But when time came to announce the winners, her name was not called.

It turned out that Ben had been out bidding her on the candlesticks the whole evening and won them! Shortly after the auction results were announced, Ben took Amy outside and gave her the candle sticks.

Needless to say, she was quite surprised.

At the end of the evening Amy decided to give Ben her number, because he was too shy to ask her for it. Ben called the next morning and we met for lunch before Ben headed back to Greensboro.

The rest, as they say, is history..

Our Proposal Story (10/15/2010)

We went on a three day weekend to the Outer Banks as it's where we took our first vacation together. That Friday evening, we were going to relax outside with a glass of wine. When Amy had finished getting her sweatshirt and blanket, she noticed that there was a purple present with a big pink bow on it laying on the chair. She was slightly confused, but Ben told her to take it outside.

After we got outside, and we got comfortable on the swinging bench, Amy opened the present.  It was a book that Ben had put together himself called "Oh The Places We've Been!" He knows how much Amy love's Dr. Seuss, so he followed the same rhyme of the book "Oh The Places You'll GO." Then Ben told Amy that she had to read it aloud. As she was reading and looking at all the pictures in the book, she began to realize what was going on...

As soon as she finished reading the book, Ben got down on one knee and asked her to marry him!!!
